Learning Journal Week 8





Week 8 is a short week and also the last week of CST300. I’m glad it’s over and that I can move on to the next course. This week I completed the post-test for OLI. I didn’t learn anything from it because it was just a rehash of some of the multiple choice questions from previous modules. We finished and turned in our final video project and I’d say it went pretty well. Let’s move on to reviewing other team’s videos.

First we have Stack Otterflow’s video. They only have a professional video uploaded right now so I’m only going over that one. Their video makes ours look bad. That’s the easiest way to put it. When I first watched their video about Autonomous Vehicles I thought that we missed some instructions and did ours wrong because of the sheer difference in quality and presentation. They do an excellent job at presenting and covering their topic as well as every other metric that they could be graded on. I think that this team went above and beyond the expectations set for this assignment.

Okay so I’m also going to review both of Enhydra Engineering’s videos. Their topic is Generative AI in Gaming. The professional video was very good, similar to Stack Otterflow’s video. Again I think that this video covers the topic well and that it’s clear that this team did their research. The same goes for their shorter video for the public audience. One suggestion I’d add is that they add some information through text or subtitles.

I linked my group's video projects at the bottom of this post. We communicated and collaborated through discord and met up multiple times to plan and check in on our progress. I think next time we could maybe meet up more often, but it probably wouldn’t make a huge difference.

CST370: Journal Entry Week 3

Week 3 is ending already! We learned about brute-force string matching as well as depth and breadth-first search algorithms. I was already familiar with the divide and conquer algorithm design, but it was still good to read more about it. The homework this week was torture. The first program about Depth-First Search took me forever to do and I found the instructions to be confusing. The hint really saved me on that one. The second program was easier in the way that we just needed to use brute force over more complicated algorithms. Anyways that’s all for now. The midterm is coming up soon and I hope I’m prepared for it.

CST311: Journal Entry Week 7

We covered chapter 6 of the textbook which was about link layers, but that was overshadowed by the much bigger thing this week, the final exam. One difference I noticed between the midterm and the final was that the midterm had much more overlap with the pre-midterm questions than the final had with the pre-final. That didn’t turn out to be much of an issue since I still scored pretty well in the end. This class is basically over now. I’m not bothering with any more extra credit work since it won’t make a meaningful difference to my grade since I already have an A. There’s just the programming assignment 4, and chapter 8.9 quiz, and the week 8 journal, which I probably won’t have much to say in since I’ll have to turn that in within 4 days from the date this one is published. That’s all for now.
